PULSCE has dedicated itself to making a positive impact

everywhere it goes

Our Story

PULSCE was founded on a simple but powerful notion that young people deserve spaces where they can grow, lead, and thrive free from the pressures and harms that too often accompany substance misuse, loneliness, and disconnection.

Our organization is shaped by lived experiences. Many of us have seen firsthand the impact of substance misuse through our families, friendships, and communities. We understand that these struggles do exist on a spectrum—often rooted in systems that disproportionately burden marginalized communities. PULSCE exists to challenge those systems, create new pathways, and help young people not only survive, but thrive in the life they are living now.

What began as an idea quickly became a movement. Built by students, for students, PULSCE was created to bring people together through prevention, unity, leadership, service, and community engagement. We recognized that young people were searching for more than awareness campaigns or empty messages. They were searching for real connection, meaningful opportunities, and a community that truly cared.

Our founder brought together a group of peers and friends who shared the same vision: to create a culture where prevention feels empowering, leadership feels accessible, and no one has to navigate the challenges of young adulthood (especially college) alone. From our very first meeting in Storrs, where students gathered over pizza to connect and speak about purpose, it became clear that PULSCE was meeting a real and urgent need.

We believe prevention is more than saying “no.” It is saying “yes” to healthier choices, stronger relationships, personal growth, and a future filled with possibility. Through events, education, peer support, service initiatives, and leadership development, we strive to help students make life-shaping decisions while building a more just and equitable environment on campus and beyond.

Today, PULSCE continues to grow with a vision of expanding to universities across Connecticut and eventually far beyond it. Our story is still being written—and we invite every student, supporter, and future leader to help write the next chapter.

Founder & CEO

DANIEL SENIOR

I founded PULSCE after recognizing the difference in my quality of life with and without substance use. From navigating the pressure of social norms to experiencing daily feelings of isolation. I lead our prevention-focused efforts by drawing on the experiences and opportunities I’ve been fortunate to have throughout my life. I am passionate about helping others understand their choices, build healthier habits, and feel less alone through this work.

Chief Operating Officer

VINCENT PLOCIC

I head our leadership-building events and focus on creating opportunities for members to grow professionally. My name is Miranda Nogueda and I am a freshman at the University of Connecticut majoring in political science. I find myself very interested in community outreach as well as service work within my institution as well as outside. With the help of my peers, it has been an amazing journey to make an impact on our institution and be able to engage with other students for a better cause.

Director of Campus Service

MICHELLE SPIEWAK

I coordinate and lead service events that promote prevention and awareness across campuses! I organize volunteer opportunities, collaborating with community partners, and helping students get involved. I joined PULSCE because it felt like a program that I really resonated with.
